Ever committed to academic excellence and public service, the Faculty of Arts' primary mission is to cultivate in students intellectual enrichment which is an essential asset for independent individuals who think and act as intelligent and responsible members of a modern democratic society.

In its initial stage, the Faculty was part of a tri-Collegiate body. In 1071, an independent Faculty of Science emerged, and in 1981 another for Education. until 1998 the Faculties' academic programmes included Arabic language and Literature, English language and Literature, History, Philosophy, Mass Communication, Geography, Psychology, Sociology, and Social Services. Currently, the three last programmes form the academic specialisation of the newly established Faculty of Social Sciences.
